Butterscotch Brownies with Chocolate Chips

ingredients

4 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, slightly beaten
¾ cup flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
chocolate chips (half of standard bag)

bake it!

Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Grease an 8 x 8 pan or an 8-inch round pan.
In a small bowl, microwave the shortening (or butter) until just melted. Add the brown sugar, vanilla, and egg. Stir until combined.
In another bowl (or food storage bag), combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Combine these ingredients well and add to the sugar mixture.
Stir in the desired amount of chocolate chips.
Spread in the prepared pan.
Bake for 20 minutes.
