ingredients and dough cycle
4 tablespoons margarine or butter (I add an extra ½ tablespoon)
1 egg
¾ cup (6 ounces) rice milk or low-fat milk
3 tablespoons sugar (I add an extra ½ teaspoon)
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
1 tablespoon bread machine yeast
Place the first six ingredients in the bread pan according to the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Make a small well in the flour and add the yeast.
Place the pan in the machine.
Set for dough cycle (1 1/2 hours).
Set the oven to 400° F.
Lightly grease a cookie sheet or use a sheet of parchment paper.
Remove the dough and place on a lightly floured surface.
Cut the dough into eight pieces and shape into rolls for hamburger buns. 12-14 rolls make great dinner roll size.
Form each ball of dough and place on the cookie sheet. Press each roll down slightly. Cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let rise for 25-30 minutes.
Remove the covering carefully.
Bake for 8-9 minutes or until golden brown.
